Inulin is an undigestible fiber (fructooligosaccharides) extracted from chicory root. Inulin is not absorbed by the human body but is metabolized in the intestines by beneficial probiotic bacteria. Thus, inulin selectively stimulates the activity of beneficial bacteria and maintains the balance of natural gut flora. This is the primary beneficial property of inulin for gastrointestinal function and overall health. Additionally, inulin fibers improve intestinal motility.
An additional effect is that inulin fibers swell in the intestines, causing a feeling of fullness due to volume. This effect is particularly pronounced when large doses of inulin are consumed - 30-45 g of inulin per day.
Composition:
100% soluble dietary fibers (inulin) from chicory.
Dietary fibers are obtained from the roots of non-genetically modified chicory (Cichorium L.).
